Bio
DJ Spoolz (Bradley Spoolstra) is a hip-hop DJ from Indianapolis, Indiana. A fan of hip-hop music and admirer of the culture since a child, Spoolz began writing music reviews for soundslam.com in 2005. Wanting to play a larger role in the hip-hop community, Spoolz began DJ’ing later that same year with help and tutelage from close friend and mentor DJ MetroGnome. Spoolz’ main DJ’ing influences include DJ Qbert, Mix Master Mike, DJ Craze, and A-Trak. As Spoolz puts it, “The documentary Scratch was my DJ’ing Bible when I first started. I would skip class in college, watch Scratch, and try to emulate what I was seeing from the DJ’s.”

In 2007, Spoolz joined the Indianapolis-based hip-hop group The Dirty Thirty. After performing at several local shows, the group released their first and only project, “The Eeepee” (2008), with Spoolz’ scratching featured on several tracks. After DJ’ing for several other Indianapolis-based acts, Spoolz linked with his current group, The Proforms, in mid-2010. With The Proforms, Spoolz has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such notable hip-hop acts as Method Man & Redman, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Das EFX, AZ, and Planet Asia. The group released their first album entitled “Atavism” in October 2011. Spoolz also DJ’s for Indianapolis MC Scoot Dubbs, and is a member of Cut Camp.
